University of Birmingham: I Wasn’t Ready for This Campus!

Let me tell you about one of the most mind-blowing university visits I’ve had so far: the University of Birmingham.

First of all — let’s set the scene. It was an icy, rain-soaked morning in Coventry. I was practically jogging to catch my train to Birmingham New Street, teeth chattering, camera bag in hand, and pure vibes in my heart. From there, a quick switch onto a connecting train took me straight to University Station — which literally opens up right into the University of Birmingham campus. Convenient? 100%. I hadn’t even taken five steps out the station before I felt it — the buzz.

This campus? Massive. I’m talking huge. From the minute I stepped onto the grounds, I was awestruck. The architecture, the open spaces, the energy. It’s giving heritage, it’s giving prestige, it’s giving “I’m definitely in a Russell Group university right now.” No joke — I was just walking, filming, soaking in the vibe, trying not to look too much like a lost tourist (spoiler: I was very lost, but loving it).

What struck me most was how alive the place felt. Students were everywhere — going to lectures, chilling with friends, grabbing coffees — the campus was literally buzzing with student life. You could tell this wasn’t just a university, it was a community. A city within a city.

Was I a little overwhelmed by the size? Absolutely. Did I miss a few cool spots? Probably. But that’s what makes this place even more worth visiting again. I need to come back and do a proper guided tour, maybe with someone from the university showing me the hidden gems I didn’t get to see on my solo run.

If you’re an international student considering studying in the UK, the University of Birmingham should 100% be on your list. The environment is vibrant, the campus is stunning, and the atmosphere is so right for student life.
